The International Language Institute (ILI) was founded in 1983 and is recognized as one of Canada’s leading private language training institutes. Since 1983, thousands of international students have selected ILI to learn general/business English, to prepare for University, or to write the TOEFL or IELTS exam.
Here are a few of ILI’s distinctive achievements:
- ILI is accredited by Languages Canada. Languages Canada is Canada's largest language organization and its logo guarantees students a quality language program. The Languages Canada logo confirms that ILI follows Languages Canada rigorous standards of quality . These quality standards cover the areas of curriculum, teacher qualifications, student services, student admissions, marketing, promotion, facilities and administration. Languages Canada standards are internationally recognized.
- In 2005, ILI was awarded Canada Language Council’s highest honour, the Lyn Howes Award, for quality and innovation in the delivery of language training programs and services.
- ILI is the first certified Cambridge teacher training centre in North America offering CELTA, the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults.
- ILI is a member of TESL Canada, and its CELTA teacher training program is accredited by TESL Canada. CELTA-trained teachers are a hallmark of ILI’s instructional programs.
- ILI and its companion language training institute, English Canada, are official IELTS and TOEFL test centers and offer test preparation courses for these tests.
- ILI’s University Preparatory English program is accepted in lieu of an official TOEFL or IELTS score through formal agreements with several leading colleges and universities in Atlantic Canada.
- ILI conducts holiday study programs for students sponsored by foreign Ministries of Education, educational councils and universities such as the Wadi International University in Syria, the Abu Dhabi Educational Council, Saudi Arabia’s Academic Company for Educational Services, private Japanese high schools and Korean youth study programs.
- ILI officers have played a variety of major roles in the development of the language training industry in Canada.
