ILI recommends that you live with an approved ILI host family, especially during your first months in Canada. It's the best way to practice your English and to learn about the Canadian way of life. ILI homestay in Halifax provides a private room for your exclusive use and three meals a day, seven days a week. Students often develop warm and lasting relationships with members of their host family.
To arrange homestay, simply indicate your accommodation preferences on the ILI application form and pay the appropriate fee. ILI's host-family coordinator will make the necessary arrangements and send you a brief description of your family before you arrive. The coordinator will then meet you at the airport and introduce you to your host family. Throughout your stay, the coordinator is available for advice and help.
A limited number of host families are available for minor students (under the age of 19) because they require a legal guardian in Canada. Minor students pay host family fees in advance to ILI.
